On the flight to sf

On the flight to sf, I am quite surprise to find free wifi on the flight. Now does it mean that I can send text MSG or even make phone calls? At least I can send email now. It is just the way a flight should be.
Sf is still quite far away. It is 5 and a half hours flight. I think if I double the time, I can flight back to china!
